Aaron Rodgers

For those who may not know who Aaron Rodgers is, he was the Packers’ first round draft pick in 2005, a QB out of the University of California-Berkeley.

More importantly, relatively speaking, he is now the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback with the retirement of Brett Favre.

Rodgers obviously hasn’t had much of a chance to play in his career up to this point, being the backup to the ironman Favre. The only significant playing time in a regular season game he has gotte that I can recall is this past season in Dallas when Favre left the game with an elbow/forearm injury.

Rodgers played well in front in that national tv (as long as you have NFL Network) audience and may have proven that he is ready to take over the job. I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I know Rodgers played well and moved the offense pretty efficiently.

I guess the ultimate question is, how will Rodgers fare in 2008? And also, If given the chance, would you draft him for your fantasy team this year?

My answers to those questions are I think he will do very well and probably lead the Packers to the playoffs and yes, I think I will try to have him on my auction league fantasy team this year. That is, as long as the price is right.

excellent, timely post In all the hoopla over Favre retiring, I forgot about who would actually step in in GB. Rodgers to me is an average NFL QB, but he has shown some moxie and upside in limited action in 2007. I would peg Rodgers currently as about 90-100 picks into most drafts. According to Yahoo!, Rodgers really only played in one game last year, week 13 against the Cowboys, where he went 18 for 26, 201 yards, and a TD. Not bad, but he’s still unproven.

Got hurt quick? Didn’t Aaron Rodgers step right in and get hurt quickstyle?

he’s serviceable but he’s injury prone Packers fans aren’t used to their QB being frail and I’m afraid that Rodgers hasn’t proven otherwise. hopefully Rodgers borrowed some EAS from B. Quinn because he’s going to need it this offseason. -bB

Who knows about Rodgers? He really hasn’t played any games so he’s really a rookie in my books. I hope the Packers have set their expectations accordingly…..having said that he has a ton of weapons and perhaps Grant can be a top 5 back next year?

Grant a top 5 back? Not a chance. The only reason why he had a big season last year was because defenses were wary of Favre’s arm.

Aaron Rodgers I think Aaron Rodgers did come in at the end of a blowout a couple years ago and broke his leg. I think he was scrambling and took an awkward hit near the sideline.
Don’t know if that specific incident means he’s injury prone, I think it was an awkward, fluke-type thing.

Legit QB2 I would def try to get him as a QB2 (redraft, start 1 QB) as long as I had a reliable QB1 and more proven guys like Cutler were off the board. Rodgers has a ton of weapons in Green Bay, and Greg Jennings will make any QB look good once they get synced.

I don’t think you can really call a guy injury prone after the limited playing time that Rodgers has seen. Let’s see him get a start and see how he does.

bring in… the Packers should sign David Carr…the Packers need him!!!

by tfactor on March 4, 2008 at 10:06 pm

Carr? I wish the man would just retire in peace, but I am sure he will probably find a team willing to take him as a backup or third-stringer again next year with the same result that Carolina had.

Maybe he can save a life by preventing Trent Green from signing up for some team to play again and getting his 400th concussion.

by fantasyfool on March 4, 2008 at 10:18 pm

you kidding me? Carr sucks! Keep him away from the NFL.
