It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that UFC is underpaying their fighters dramatically. UFC’s total payroll for the event was under 1 million dollars. Considering all of the money the event made it’s a joke. Dana White isn’t as shrewd a businessman as he thinks. I’ll throw him into the same category as ex-WCW guy Eric Bischoff.
As for the Affliction salaries, I’m reading a lot of garbage saying that the fighters are overpaid. How is that possible? The only way Affliction could be overpaying their fighters is if they lost money on the event and I seriously doubt that occurred. Rather, Affliction understands that fighters make MMA and not wannabe promoters such as Dana White.
Who runs Affliction? It’s tough to tell because they’re not grandstanding in front of the camera like Dana White always is. Personally, I can’t wait for the next Affliction event because the best fighters are going to be flocking over in hopes of actually getting paid.
Say what you want to about UFC vs Affliction but ultimately the fighters are going to go wherever the most money is. Whether or not this means that Dana White has to loosen his borrowed pursestrings is unclear but I think it’s a necessary action if White doesn’t want to lose out on everything he’s worked so hard to create.
right on So, Tito Ortiz wasn’t just sipping on the crazy juice, was he? Fair pay for fighters, non-exclusive contracts, please.
