I know it’s hard to say that a #1 seed advancing into the sweet 16 should be better. However, it’s true in the case of UCLA. I know there’s a great deal of excitement surrounding their team because of the talent that they feature. I’ll be the first to admit that they have 5 very dynamic players on their team: Love, Collison, Westbrook, Shipp, and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (one guy).
Ben Howland you stale-minded coach! This isn’t Pitt and your team is one of the most athletic in the country. Yet he’s insistent on playing slow, knock ‘em down and drag it out basketball. UCLA should routinely be beating teams by 10-20 points yet they’re limited in their offensive scheme. That’s why throughout the year you’d see them with 25 points or less at halftime, they’re busy “controlling the tempo.”
What a shame Howland is for the Bruins. Elite coaches maximize talent based on the dynamic qualities of each player. Roy Williams preaches defense yet he understands his team and allows them to run teams out of the gym when the opportunity is there for the taking.
It’s sad seeing NBA caliber talent such as Collison, Westbrook, and especially Shipp unable to play their game. I think more people will be cognizant of the point I’m trying to make when UCLA is ousted before they cut the nets down. Howland is a great coach but I think he needs to be more flexible in his approach to the game.
UCLA I think they anyway, but you’re right-they should be more exciting
final 4, no doubt no worries there. They should play better this week than they showed against A&M.
