Why is KG the scapegoat? It should be the refs

Because he missed 2 free throws? Sure that would have tied the game but he’s not the goat by any stretch of the imagination. The refs are the true goats. It’s not the nature of the the calls that they’re making, it’s the selective consistency that shows up time and time again.

How come KG is called for a reach in foul when he’s playing defense straight up and Kobe isn’t called for anything when he does the YMCA reach around your back steal the ball play. We all know that even if it’s a clean steal (which it wasn’t) that it’s a telltale sign of lazy defense and 99% of the time it’s a foul.

In the midst of RefGate I think that this whole deal wreaks of it. With Perkins out, it’s obvious that if KG got in early foul trouble that it would severely hamper the Celtics. It isn’t as if Garnett was playing bad D either. Perhaps 2 of his 5 fouls were actually consistent with the way the rest of the game was officiated but you could clearly see that the refs had it in for KG.

Now today, I’m listening to Jon Barry and Jim Rome call out KG and say that:

  • “KG is not a superstar”
  • “I don’t want KG closing games for me”
  • “KG depends on Kendrick Perkins to play well”
  • “KG is a good player but not a great player”

What a bunch of crap. Sad thing is that these aren’t the only two people that think like this. It’s the same garbage over and over again. I can’t wait for Game 6 when KG goes crazy and seals up his first ring. Look for Pierce to grab the Finals MVP.
