Monday Morning Update

Blog post by fflibrarian, 7 months ago

Let’s just take a moment here to reflect on how unfortunate it is that we won’t be seeing the Packers in the Super Bowl. I’m sorry Giants fans, but I just really can’t get my mind around the fact that the Giants are going to the Super Bowl this year. Not what I was expecting or hoping for really. So, much to my Colts-loving husband’s dismay but my Pats-loving sister’s delight, I will be pulling for the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Some football thoughts for you today…

There wil be a Manning in SB Though!! FFL: Your husband could take some comfort in that Peyton’s kid brother Eli will be the leading the giants in the SB!!

Green Bay wasn’t great either Would it really have been a better Super Bowl with Green Bay? Or any other NFC team? Dallas?

Neither of those teams were anything special. Anyone who wishes those teams were in the Super Bowl instead of the Giants is focusing too much on star power. Yeah, Dallas has Owens and Green Bay has Favre, but the bottom line is the Giants proved themselves to be the best NFC team this year.

Giants should Represent the NFC Good The week 17 game we played was a close one against the Pats. We can take them the distance with the skill and talent we have on offense, defense and special teams. It won’t be easy…..but the second best team in the NFC (the Giants) made it.

You could make an argument for the Cowboys being the better match up but New England took care of them too in the regular season pretty handily once the 4th quarter rolled around.

Giants really best in NFC? I don’t know Baltman, I definitely respect what the Giants have done but when you take a look at some of the season-long stats, I just don’t believe that the Giants were the best team in the NFC. I’m siding with NYSportsguy on that one and considering them more second-best. And yes, I completely admit I’m probably focusing too much on star power in wanting to have seen a Favre/Brady Super Bowl…but I’ve moved on and am hoping for an excellent rematch here between the Pats and Giants. And yes, illinialum, my husband is strongly pulling for Eli to be the 2nd Manning in a row to win the Super Bowl.
