NFL Preseason Kicks Off

The first full week of NFL preseason games is just about completed save a San Francisco-Denver game tonight, and some early indications of risers and fallers can be noted.

Risers:

Pittsburgh WR Santonio Holmes: he’s having an excellent camp and preseason, and it’s shown in both games he’s played so far in the preseason (3-48, 1 TD and 1-49). Look for him to have a breakout season.

New Orleans QB Drew Brees: he looked like he was in preseason form, going 12-14 for 118 yards in a loss to the Bills. I have himright behind QB Carson Palmer as the #3 guy behind Peyton Manning.

Chicago QB Rex Grossman: I’m not his biggest fan, but he’s playing very well this preseason, looks sharp, and has the weapons around him to succeed. If he keeps this up, I’d consider taking him as my #1 QB in very large leagues.

Tennessee RB Chris Henry: add this guy to your list of rookie running backs to watch and consider on draft day. He looked much better than Chris Brown and LenDale White in the game vs. the Redskins (12 rushes for 42 yards).

Fallers:

The Washington Redskin offense. QB Jason Campbell looks all out of sorts and that doesn’t bode well for WR Santana Moss and the rest of the receiving corps. RB Clinton Portis has a bad knee, so give a slight bump to Ladell Betts, who was looking like one of the top RB backups anyway.
