Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers Game 1
Blog post by GETO, 1 week ago
What a horrible and painful game to watch tonight between these two teams. LeBron James had a really bad shooting game and a lot of turnovers. I think they would of won the game if he would have shot less since he was having a bad shooting day. That’s the thing I don’t get with these super stars. Yes, we all know they can play but why ball hog and shoot the dam ball if you’re having such an off day? Just imagine if he had pass the ball to his other teammates, things would have been different in my opinion. We all know LeBron James not a selfish player but at times I think he just doesn’t get it and just keep shooting.
I have to agree with lebron23 and DavisSportsGuy. The Cavs coaching staff really sets LeBron up for failure in the offense. They put him out a few feet past the 3 point line, give him the ball and get out of the way which basically forces LeBron to drive 1 on 5. You can not expect him to score with this kind of strategy.
I also think that the Cavs should be encouraged by this game because their main star had a terrible game but still ended up 1 rebound and 1 assist away from a quadruple double (10 TOs) and still had a chance to win the game. Admittingly, the Cavs lucked out because both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen had terrible games as well but having the LeBron that we all have got accustomed to seeing will balance out those 2 Celtics.
I don’t really know who LeBron should pass too. The only person that can hit a consistent shot from the perimeter is Daniel Gibson and they really should run more plays between LeBron and him. Watching Wally hoist up 3’s like he’s the superstar makes me cringe and is probably why KG is so excited that he’s on the Celtics. Ben Wallace is a non factor on offense. There just isn’t anyone that has a reliable shot. The Cavs will only go as far as LeBron takes them.
Believe it or not, Wally has been a spark at times for the Cavs offense
I agree LeBron was being a little greedy as evident from the 10 turnovers, but can you blame him? Mike Brown’s entire strategy is to pray LeBron can win in a 1 on 5 iso. He also got 9 dimes so it’s not like he wasn’t looking to get others involved. But when all you have to pass to in the starting lineup is Delonte West and Wally World around the arc, it’s slim pickings.
Gibson and Delonte should start together in the backcourt. They don’t give up much height and the players they would guard aren’t physical specimens, so I see no reason why the 50 year old Wally Sczerbiak should be starting.

This is ridiculous. Who in their right mind would think Cleveland would even have a chance against the Celtics and the Big 3, especially playing at boston? On paper, the celtics are clearly favorites to run away with this series easily, AND they have home court advantage.
With that being said, Lebron James made only 2 field goals, had ten turnovers, and the Cavs ONLY lost by 4 points? Clearly this was a moral victory for the Cavs. They came, they defended, and held the third highest scoring team in the East to just 76 points at Home.
And what do you mean Lebron James should pass the ball? The guy had 9 assists, which is 7 more than the next guy. Who is he going to pass to, Delonte West, who shot 2 of 10? Wally Szczerbiak who shot 5 of 14? If Lebron James shoots 2 of 102 in a game, I’d still give him the ball to take the next shot. No one else on the Cavs has the athleticism to drive to the basket like Lebron can. So give him the ball. For a guy averaging over 30 points in the playoffs, he’s due to have one bad game.
Just an offnight for LeBron..I have faith he will bounce back..I used to think the Celts were going to be in the East Conference Finals..however, i think this series can go either way..i thnk LeBron is ready and he definitely has the tools on his team to beat Boston..he is the best player on floor by far..Celts look a little old and creaky..KG is the only one who plays championship defense on that team..i do really like the 510’s finest Leon Powe and Rondo..Allen is one of the best pure shooters in NBA history tough call..i say celtics in 7, however it could be the cavs, tough to call though, i think the Celtics would do better in the finals
My cable was out, but from what I’m looking at statistically Boston escaped with a lucky victory. This game proves just how bad the supporting cast is against competent defense. Despite their impressive play against Washington (whom I picked to win the series), let’s not forget that the Cavs won 45 games in a terrible conference. They, I repeat THEY, are not good because one guy is incredible. For heaven’s sake, Ilgauskas is their second best scorer. Without a doubt!
