Post #200: The Mendoza Line Post

Wow…200 posts as the Riff! Does this mean this will be a mediocre post? That’s up for y’all to decide. Being that we’re up to 200, I’m going to use this as an opportunity to give my half year awards for memorable moments for the year in sports:

1. Tiger Woods in the US Open. Without any doubt, this will stand out for years to come. Rocco should get props for this moment as well. I cannot remember a duel such as this one.

2. tie-New England Patriots. Their run to perfection and Spy Gate redux made the Patriots a hot news item earlier in the year. Their subsequent upset loss in the Super Bowl was especially huge since very few thought they would lose.

2. tie-NY Giants’ upset win in the Super Bowl. In itself, the game was hot…a tight ball game and history being destroyed. Historically, maybe not the biggest upset, but this ranked up there with the best. Don’t forget the amazing catch by David Tyree, which ranks up there with Tiger Woods as the year’s best individual moment so far.

3. Kansas winning the NCAA championship in men’s basketball. I think this ranks at the top if the US Open Golf tournament did not happen. One of the best NCAA finals in the last 20 years.

4. Eight Belles euthanized after the Kentucky Derby. Sad…yes, but will more awareness be placed towards horse racing now?

5. Roger Clemens. This has quieted down somewhat recently, but when this was going, it was a hot item!

And because I Love lists, here’s an update for my Mendoza Line All Stars (100+ AB qualify):
