Less than a month removed from the 2008 NFL season, and with the combine set to begin, FIO co-founder Adam Allen gives you one of the most comprehensive mock drafts on the net. Along with two full rounds of projections and Player Profiles on nearly each prospect, Allen discusses each selection along with naming a few players right on the bubble of breaking into the top two rounds.
Nice Article The picks seem realistic and legit in this article. However I am predicting some “wrinkles” in the draft.
a) I can’t fault the Giants for picking a CB with the last pick in round 1. Their secondary is still considered; mediocre though it is improving. I like the kid from Oklahoma but wouldn’t be upset if they drafted Aqib Talib either in round 1 (with a name like Aqib Talib how can he NOT be a 1st round pick??).
b) I see the 49ers trading up a few spots and taking Brohm at pick #26. They just can’t go into the year thinking Alex Smith is going to be their “go to guy”. Martz be be a good offensive coordinator but he’s no miracle worker. Expect them to draft Brohm and give Alex Smith some competiton come training camp.
c) I see Chad Pennington going to the Vikings next year and being their starter so I like the DeSean Jackson pick for them. Jackson suits their need at wide out perfeclty to help compliment their already stellar running game. Expect the Houston Texans to have the “steal of the draft” if they take Rashard Mendenhall at pick #18. He will be a 1000 yard rusher 8-10 TD back easy next year, if not better. Texans offense will be off the charts.
d) I see the Eagles taking Mario Manningham (if available) at pick #19. McNabb and all the fans at Philly have been complaining at the lack of WR depth last year. McNabb only needs one decent one to make this team a playoff contender and Manningham could be it.
e) Ray Rice will not drop as far as you have expected. He is the real deal and I can’t see the Bears passing him up at pick #44. Joe Flacco is in the same boat and expect the Chiefs or Vikings to take him the second round.
OK True with some of those points, it’s just hard to predict who will truly move up in the draft and who will get traded – so you gotta take things as they are now, you know?
