Giants sign outfielder Rowand

The Giants have acquired a new center fielder, and he will be in San Francisco for a long time. The team will announce this afternoon it has signed Aaron Rowand to a five-year contract.
With the Phillies last year, he hit .309, with 27 hrs and 89 rbi. He’s a good hitter but not necessarily the big bat that a guy like Alex Rios would bring. I’m guessing Sabean is not finished and will continue to look for position players in a similar mold.

Probably overpaid a little bit, but that’s what the Giants have to do to get decent position players. Rowand is just a solid all-around player. Finally a free agent signing to be excited about!
