Man, you just have to look at how well Derek Anderson has done (6th round, 2007 pro bowler) compared to Alex Smith (1st round, perennial loser) to see how important scouting is. Nothing is guaranteed. I’m sure the Niners realize this mistake now, but the Ravens have to be feeling worse about letting Anderson go, especially after having to draft Flacco in the first round this year.
