He's a tough guy

As a Michigan grad, I had the chance to watch Manningham play in about 25-30 college football games. He suffered a very bad knee injury in 2006 as a Sophomore, but rebounded in 2007 for an excellent Junior season. He had 72 catches for over 1,100 yards and 12 TD’s this past season, including 8+ catches and 2 TD’s in each of two tough conference road games at Illinois and Michigan State.

The bottom line for me is Manningham a gamer. He’s runs “longer” than his 5’11” frame might lead on and his routes are very crisp. His hands really improved over the course of his Michigan career, too. All of the talk about his attitude/off-the-field “issues” is, in my opinion, a good example of the over-analysis that goes into the NFL Draft. I think the Giants lucked out with this pick. I will be sporting my Maize and Blue #86 jersey when the Giants hit the field against the Redskins in September!

could linger

Hopefully this isn’t something that will linger for Manningham for his whole rookie season. I have seen it happen before with these young WR’s.
