Just perform I think this article touches on the UFC’s main focus, pay fighters that fight with heart. It is kind of funny when you hear fighters complaining about pay, its usually the fighters that get dropped from the promotion, or are Kalib Starnes type of fighters. I have never heard Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell, or Georges St. Pierre complain about pay. The only two big names that have really complained about pay are Couture and Ortiz. Tim Sylvia has recently said he is leaving to make more money, but he did not complain about what he was making. However, Sylvia also knows he cannot win in the UFC so he had to leave.
true.. I think that it’s difficult when boxers make millions and MMA fighters make six figures. I believe the revenue for MMA is catching up (if not caught up) with boxing, so why don’t they pay MMA fighters more? I like the incentive model too, some guy like Kalib Starnes who got on his bike and ran away from his opponent should probably lose money on that fight. It was ugly.
As for Sylvia, he’s not going to make more money elsewhere. He might make some coin in the upcoming fight with Fedor, though. He’s lucky he’s a heavyweight in an otherwise thin division throughout the sport.
Interesting… I never looked at it that way. The UFC tends to give some people that do not deserve to be in the UFC multiple chances to succeed. I think they need to be stricter with their guidelines for acceptance. Kalib Starnes has always been a whore. I did not realize that boxing pays low amounts to shitty fighters as well. I really enjoy EliteXC and I hope they are able to weather the storm because I believe they have the potential of being a great organization (Especially since I do not have to pay paper view prices to see great fights). This was a great article.
