Overwhelming in every way, the Red Sox swept to their second title in four years Sunday night. Jon Lester, Mike Lowell & Co. left little room for drama with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies in Game 4.
honestly What happened to baseball? Am I alone here who just simply stopped caring about the MLB? I used to be a big baseball fan and even took it out to right-field a couple times back in High School. Nothing to do with the lock-out, the MLBPA, steroid scandal, etc etc, but I lost my taste in the game because of, well, the game.
Has baseball gotten so boring? Is it losing its marketing appeal? Has the stop in steroids crushed the game’s excitement? Did Barry Bonds take the love of the game away? A-Rod? Big Mac? Joe Torre? Red Sox?
I can say I haven’t watched a game of baseball on tv for over 3 years now. I went to an A’s nightgame a couple months ago, but it was freezing cold and it rained, so after gobbling up some hotdogs and nachos, I downed a couple more beers and went home. The game ended in the 14th inning and went well beyond midnight. Glad i was home, warm, and drunk.
yep I think you hit on a couple things. The steroid scandal doesn’t help. I think baseball could benefit from a salary cap and revenue-sharing deal so that smaller market teams can compete. I also think baseball can also use a couple larger than life personalities. Seems like the guys playing now are all business: give me my paycheck – it’s really a financial transaction at this point.
