deserved? I don’t know. All these playoff appearances. I think last year’s loss to the Warriors had a lot to do with it. They went up against a tough team this year. Mark Cuban’s got a short fuse.

Not Avery’s fault Can we fire Jason Kidd too?

re: Avery Johnson is a great defensive minded assistant. He is not a great head coach. He’s had all the talent in the world and has folded in the playoffs 3 straight years. If last year’s playoff lose to the Warriors taught us anything, it’s that Avery can be out-coached if they have a slight edge on him philosophically.

But now the question arises, who the hell are the Mavs going to hire that will do a better job than Avery?

By the way, they still have Kidd.

its about time I bet Cuban couldn’t wait to pull the trigger on Avery’s release. Although I think the Mavs’ decline isn’t entirely his fault, they do need a new change. Avery had his chances and blew them. Two first round playoff exits must be painful. Too bad they thought Jason Kidd was the answer to their prayers. Kidd is still good, but shouldn’t be considered as one of the leagues elite point guards anymore.

Mavs Need to Get Younger I don’t mind bringing Avery Johnson or Mike D’Antoni to the Knicks. THe Mavericks real problem is they have old players at PG and PF. They need to get younger and have a solid draft this year.

Second guessing There will be a ton of it if the Mavs do not go FAR next season. A training camp with Kidd will help (though he just can’t shoot) as will one or two solid bench pickups. I just can’t blame Avery Johnson for Howard’s or Kidd’s play. The Hornets were a better team. 50+ wins and fired? Maybe the Mavs will get lucky and pull off what Detroit did after firing Carlisle… though Larry Brown is taken.
