The Golden State Warriors on Tuesday conceded defeat in the chase for Elton Brand’s signature by quickly moving on to new targets and reaching a faster-than-expected verbal agreement to sign unrestricted free agent Corey Maggette to a five-year contract worth around $50 million.

new team in ’08 this won’t be anything like the ’07 version if this keeps up. Maggete is a solid player though, but the Warriors seem just a tad bit desperate right now.

re: He fits the offense perfectly. That’s the good news. The bad news is he’s injury prone, doesn’t play D, got paid way too much for way too long, and he’s been on losing teams his whole career.
