The Yankees have signed free-agent right-hander Sidney Ponson to a minor-league contract, FOX Sports is reporting. Ponson, 31, recently was released by the Texas Rangers, who cited his off-field conduct in announcing their initial decision to designate him for assignment. Ponson, however, pitched well for the Rangers, going 4-1 with a 3.88 ERA in nine starts. This will be his second stint with the Yankees, for whom he was 0-1 with a 10.47 ERA in five appearances in 2006
