Baron Davis to the Knicks?
After seeing the news on ESPN and then hunting for the real story
http://fantasysportsmatrix.com/buzz/will_guard_davis_be_baron_ny
A sign and trade for Marbury is not a bad deal. Sure, we’re writing off being competitive next year because Starbury will be on the court but that is 21 million of the books. Coupled with Baron being gone, that’s a lot of coin to throw at the ever attractive free agent class of ’09-‘10. LeBron, Bosh, to name a few.
I haven’t really thought all of this through but what do you guys think? Would it be a good idea?

re:
lookin at it realistically, no matter how vital baron is to the success of the warriors, i dont think we would re-sign him after this year if he didn't opt out. with that in mind, the warriors should probably target a pg with the #14 pick. i'm thinking either augustin or lawson. or if the "monta ellis becoming a pg" experiment works, then maybe we can trade down a few spots and get CDR or one of the big man projects available. with up and coming teams like portland and the sonics, the warriors should be thinking for the long term, and not just go year to year trying to get the 8 seed.May 23, 2008 - 2:05pm

injury
Baron won't always be healthy year to year, even though he's been pretty solid for the last two. His previous streak of injury filled seasons can't be forgotten. The Warriors should try to get as much as they can for BDiddy and what better time than right now, when his value is at its peak. Move him. Peace.May 23, 2008 - 7:47pm

yea we win and lose with Baron
after a day of mulling over all the info I guess it's apparent that this probably wouldn't be a good deal. who's to say that clearing all this cap space would guarantee the Ws anything in '09-'10? Other teams are doing the same thing too and it's not like free agents love to come to Oakland...or at least history doesn't show it. So let Baron play his final year, usher Monta along a little more, and then we'll know whether BD is worth an extension or not. one thing is certain and it's that BD is a player that'll play better in a contract year. next year is when he can get his dollars up so I'd expect him to be a top 10 player in the league next year. -bBMay 24, 2008 - 8:37pm

Monta or Baron
As a Knick fan, unloading Marbury and getting any one of those two players (Davis or Monta) will be a serious upgrade to our back court. I am all for it!May 26, 2008 - 2:04pm

re:
If Mullin trades/doesn't re-sign Monta, we should look for a replacement immediately. I'm sure he'll re-sign him, especially since I heard more than a few people saying they would cancel their season tickets if he isn't re-signed. __________ LB23Reply

Unless Baron opts out, this should never happen. What the hell is the point of this deal? We trade a top 10 PG that is the heart of our team and basically the only thing keeping us in playoff contention for cap relief? Honestly, who is out there that we can reasonably get with that cap relief? Mullin should be fired if he trades Baron, because that's basically dooming us to 10 more years of missing the playoffs.
