Bottom of the West
The top 6 seeds seem to be pretty locked up with the exception of the Rockets maybe switching positions with where the Mavs finished. One of the most intriguing subplots of next season will be the race for the 7 and 8 seeds in the West; so who do you like? The new look Clippers? The painfully young and talented Blazers? The experienced Mavericks? The defensive train wreck known as the Nuggets? The healthy Kings? Or the underdog Warriors? From an objective standpoint, there are 6 teams battling for two spots.
From a subjective standpoint, I think the Mavericks and Clippers make it. In my opinion, there’s no way the Mavs miss out on the playoffs so you’re looking at 5 teams for 1 spot. Who’s the lucky playoff team?

Hehehe. If the Kings lose Artest (and they probably will), they won't be anywhere near the 8th spot.July 24, 2008 - 10:54pm

Wild west
I don't see the Clips coming through, but who knows what happens if a reserve or two has a career year. The only way they make it is if Baron plays 75+ games. IF. THe Nuggets are worse than they were, but can still put so many points on the board that they're always a threat. I'll go out on a limb: they miss out by one or two games. The Kings and Blazers are the wild card teams in this race. Let's face it, both have weaknesses. Sacramento is weak inside in both scoring and defense and Portland is inexperienced in the back court. I've seen a lot of Kings games and I must admit that this team is pretty talented. Talented enough to make a run given good chemistry and some defense. Same with the Blazers. My bet is either the Kings or Blazers step it up along with the Mavs.
