Early starts
Up until this point, which players have been the biggest surprises? Disappointments? Team surprises?

How about..
John Smoltz, who we've always known to be consistent, but is just tearing it up so far this year--and on a bad shoulder! Impressed with his numbers... ...Johnny Cueto- 24 SOs in his first 3 starts, and just one BB? This guy had good #s in the minors, but transition years don't typically look this good right off the bat (or in his case, right in the glove!)April 18, 2008 - 1:00pm

Joe Saunders
is having a great season so far for the Angels...and how about my boy Dan Haren??! 4 Walks in 4 starts! 1.80 ERA! Quality. With a much better team behind him, he's already shot to a 3-0 start. Just gonna have an awesome year.Reply

Mark Reynolds?
I picked this guy off the waiver wire after seeing he was the #1 player last week. threw me for a loop, I've never really paid too much attention to this guy. I guess he's like a Mike Lowell of sorts, a solid bat at 3B that nobody really knows about. fortunately for Reynolds, the D'Backs kool-aid is top notch right now! i wonder how long it'll last.another raker is Nate McLouth on the Pirates. not sure how much of a surprise he is because he tore it up when he was called up last year but I would have to say that he's very impressive in this being his rookie campaign...whoa, he's batting .382!!! bB
