Elite XC last night; the Kimbo card

Some thoughts on the network prime time premiere of MMA as CBS aired the Elite XC event last night.

  • I thought that the refs/powers that be were stopping the fights a little early. Baroni’s fight was stopped as he hit the ground, the Lawler fight was a joke in that they stopped the fight for a thumb in the eye, and the Kimbo fight was a little suspicious in that they stopped the fight before Thompson was really event hurt.
  • More on the Kimbo v Thompson fight..sure his ear exploded and that’s disgusting but it’s really just a lot of blood that’s a “no-no” for national tv. The FCC will surely be sending a letter to CBS. On a PPV, they wouldn’t have stopped that. It’s not as if an artery of vein was severed in his ear either, it was simply like popping a disgusting blood blister.

What did you folks think about it?

Thats Dude's Ear Was Nasty

I couldn't even watch that it was gross. All I learned from that fight is that you a) Kimbo Slice has a "hard" head and b) don't fight Kimbo "toe-to-toe". Tackle his @ss down instead.

I now know

a lot more about cauliflower ear after watching that fight. They could've just drained that thing like the day or two before. You could see it from a mile away, and it was just begging for Kimbo to hit it.
