FNBA chat with sportsnut (01-03-2008 2pm-3pm PST)
Sorry everyone, I need to move the time of this event (for Jan 3 only) to 2pm-3pm PST. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Post your questions here and I will get to as many of them as I can within the hour. Please bear with me as this forum function may not be ideal for a chat type feature, but lets give it a try.

Ronnie Brewer
should I drop this guy now that's he's sidelined? Also, who on my roster do you think I need to move/positions tweaked? Thanks, I'm not the most active fantasy NBA player. Some general advice would be helpful! Guards: Raymond Felton Rajon Rondo Andre Iguodala Paul Pierce Ronnie Brewer Brandon Roy Jameer Nelson Forwards: Kevin Garnett Lamar Odom Antonio McDyess David West Centers: Al Harrington Jermaine O'Neal - Freddie FootballerJanuary 3, 2008 - 2:57pm

re: Ronnie Brewer
I haven't read that he is sidelined, but he definitely is losing playing time -- bad sign. I would consider it since it doesn't seem you really need steals (brewer's main contribution); depends who else is out there. Looks like your roster could use a PG or a center. Nelson is splitting PT and rondo doesn't get enough assists since the Big 3 handle the ball so much. O'neal is injury prone and Harrington's PT is sporadic. Maybe you can upgrade by packaging Brewer and one of your PG or C and send them to someone who loves hot rookies.January 3, 2008 - 3:04pm

re: Joakim Noah?
Not really. He'll be inconsistent, but if you have a free bench slot and guys like Nene, Boone, etc... are not out there, then why not? Thanks all for joining!January 5, 2008 - 12:14am

Sorry I'm late on this...
What do you think about Louis Williams, Joe Smith, and Travis Outlaw. Also, what players do you think will emerge as sleepers now that we are about 1/4 done with the season. Thanks!January 5, 2008 - 2:47pm

re:Sorry I'm late on this...
I like all three of them. Louis Williams is someone to keep an eye on for 3s, assists, stls especially since Korver's out of town. He'll be a must own if the Andre Miller trade rumors are true. Joe Smith (pts, reb, good %s for big man and a sprinkle of blks) is starting and he's getting big minutes under Boylan who has indicated he wants to shorten the rotation. However, I would be wary on how many FGA he'll get. I think he went off yesterday because Deng got hurt. Outlaw (stl, blk, pts and occasional 3pter)is still inconsistent but getting close to 30 min a game and will continue to improve, although his FG% is somewhat low for a forward. It all depends on what stats you need and if you want upside. If you want upside, go Williams or Outlaw; if you want dependibility, Smith may be your man (more dependable if Deng is out). As for emerging sleepers -- Conley is a good one as he has the starting PG gig, for now. Run, don't walk, to get him if you are in need of a PG. He's got weapons to dish to in Memphis (Gasol, Gay, Miller). Jack on the Blazers is a possiblity if he gets traded; right now he's a bit inconsistent. And actually, I think Louis Williams fits into this category as well. sportsnutJanuary 9, 2008 - 3:09am

Thanks for the breakdown.
What about Yi JianLian? Do you think he can finally solidify himself as a fantasy contributor this year? How do you think he'll perform next year? Sportsnut, it seems like you should keep this thread open for Q&A. =)January 9, 2008 - 3:09am

Re: Thanks for the breakdown.
I'm going to try the timeslot thing one more time (tommorrow). If that doesn't work, then a running Q&A where I check daily will be the next thing to try. On Yi, I think he'll be inconsistent in his first year in the NBA. I'm not sure how long China basketball seasons are, but if they're equivalent to NBA seasons, it's possible he improves and gains consistency after the all star break, when most rookies from US colleges would "hit the wall" due to the longer season of the NBA. The best thing about Yi is that his agent / China worked a minimum average PT/g into the deal, so that means he can't get yanked early from many games and will get a chance to learn and minutes to overcome slow starts in games. One thing is no one really knows his true age, but even at the guestimated real age, he would still be under 25 years old. I think next year he could improve to a 15pt, 8 reb, 1 stl, 1 blk per game player if he were to continue to get near 30 min/g and become the third scoring option for the Bucks. As it stands, Redd is #1, Mo williams/bogut are 2/3.Reply
