Get Ready, Set, GOALLL!!!!
Ladies and Gents,
the Fifa World Cup U-17 2007 has now gone into elimination as the Round of 16 is set to start on Wednesday 7/11/07. With no real surprises, the weaker teams and newcomers have been weeded out in the group stages with now only knock-out matchups in sight. The only biggest disappointment is to see Brazil struggle in the groups by only managing 1 win out of 3 games, but still qualify for the next round by out-edging Costa Rica in scoring more goals. An eye-brow raiser is the strong showing of African teams to breeze through the groups, with all 4 nations entering the tourney going into the next round. Defintely Gambia had had the toughest challenge by placing in front of Portugal, although Zambia beating Uruguay is no easy task and Congo drawing Austria to send the Canadian hosts packing their stuff is of heavy weight as well.
So, in the 1st day of matchups, can Gambia continue its strong run against the Austrians? Can the US show up their Senior Side by beating Uruguay? Can the Spanish make work of the struggling Brazilians? Will the Japanese outlast the Czech defensive powerhouse?
In the 2nd day 7/12, will captainless Portugal be able to beat the spicy-hot Chileans? Will the Zambia be able to prove themselves against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria? Will the Poles be able to stop the Argentines? Will the Mexicans meet resistance against Congo?
It’s all excitement and loads of fun to watch. What are your thoughts?
