Hornets
The Hornets are about to go up 3-1 on the hapless Mavs, but my question is how far do you think this team will go? They obviously have talent but they have such a shallow bench I don’t see them getting out of the next round.

I used to agree
First of all, even contending with the San Antonio Spurs would be an achievement. The Spurs are simply great. Before seeing the Hornets, I could not understand how they won so many games with that bench. Yet, Pargo's play has been surprisingly good. Wells absolutely torched the Spurs the last time he saw them in he playoffs. James is... he has potential. It does seem like a lot to ask the Hornets' reserves to perform at this stage against champions, but all they need to do is be decent. Whatever the flaws on the bench, New Orleans' 1-5 are capable of pulling off an upset.April 29, 2008 - 10:13pm

re:
Well, after that last game against the Mavs I'm a believer in the Hornets. I know the Mavs were basically a fringe playoff team, but CP3 and the Hornets torched them and the bench stepped up when it had to. I'm going out on a limb and saying they make it to the Western Conference Finals. __________ LB23April 29, 2008 - 11:07pm

Chris Paul is playing at incredible level. I'm excited for the NBA, as a new true superstar has been born. Let's see how far he can take the Hornets this year...April 29, 2008 - 11:09pm

stat line
I forgot to mention that the most amazing thing about his triple double stat line wasn't the trouble double itself, but the *zero* turnovers that complimented it. How are you going to have 15 dimes and zero turnovers? That is just insane.April 29, 2008 - 11:52pm

Doctor: Excellent point on Paul's performance. As such, it has to be considered the best of the first round. LeBron: I like a bold prediction. I think its accuracy will rest on how well the Spurs defend the pick and roll. Also, can David West go off a couple times against Duncan? I would love to see that. Remember that the Spurs do not have home court for once.April 30, 2008 - 12:39pm

duff: spurs don't have home court, you're right. hopefully that's enough for the Hornets to overcome TD and co.Reply

The Hornets are definitely buzzing, but the buzz should stop soon. I really can't see them making it past the next round with such a weak bench. Bonzi Wells is going to have to step up and Mike James needs to play. It would be a beautiful thing to see though, Chris Paul take his team all the way to the Western Conference Finals.
