Ideas for the Niners?
With the season mercifully winding down, where should the 49ers go from here? What should be done with Alex Smith and Mike Nolan? This year was a huge step backwards after a few years of moving in the right direction and giving us all hope for the future. What will get us back on track?

with Alex going under the knife they'll need a new QB
i'm sure they'll say that he'll be fine for the start of next season but the 49ers definitely need a better insurance policy than Dilfer/Hill. i'll renew my season tickets regardless but it'd be nice at least be able to sell my tix for face value if i can't go to the game. you know it's bad when you giveaway tickets for free and they still don't want to go because parking is $25-30! -bBDecember 11, 2007 - 7:31pm

To fire or not to fire Nolan
I was listening to Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News on KNBR this afternoon (Ralph Barbieri's show). Tim is of the opinion that the Yorks would rather fire Nolam than Alex considering the $$$ involved. I have mixed feelings about losing Nolan. Afterall, he has turned the defense around though at the cost of weaking the offense (should have beefed up the OL, pardon the pun)! If niners lose Nolan, I suggest promoting Singletary to maintain the status quo of the defense and then hire Ron Zook to coach Alex and the offense!!December 11, 2007 - 10:39pm

No way Zook is Leaving Illinois
I know the niner fans would love to have Ron Zook who has transformed Illinois into an exciting spread out offensive team. Hope he doesn't get lured back into the NFL, not unless if he is offered the head coaching job!!Reply

I say
get rid of Alex Smith (the experiment has failed) and pony up and get a proven veteran via trade or free agency. Improve O-line and get a playmaker at the WR position. This can be done by the above methods or by the draft. - Freddie Footballer
