NBA firings
After a disappointing end to promising seasons for a couple of different clubs attempting to find their way to the top for the first time, it appears as if a few coaches’ jobs were resting on the line. Avery Johnson has already been “let go”, and rumors are swirling around the possibility of Mike D’Antoni being fired as well. What do you think about these options as a reaction to a tough loss? Are the coaches at fault? Are the teams better off moving in a different direction? How much blame and responsibility do you place on the performances of coaches in the game?

The unknown commodity
It seems to me that only the greatest of coaches, the true top of the one percent, never get questioned. Jackson, Popovich, Sloan, and Riley (his role as *coach* wasn't the Heat's big problem). The rest are constantly under the microscope. Every team in the league with decent personnel thinks they should be great, hence the coach being blamed. (Seems to me New Orleans had better players, but Cuban can't accept that his money is paying for the seventh best team. He's not one to admit fault.) Johnson's sin was losing to Dwayne Wade and he could never atone for it with anything less than a title (that his roster could not win anyway.) Good luck, Avery. I still think you're going to be great.Reply

Cuban acted way too soon
Cuban swears too much allegiance by Nowitzki. The proof is in the last few years. The window is now closed for the Mavs and the only chance they have now is to start over. Big mistake in betting the ranch on Jason Kidd. I bet they'd love to have Devin Harris back right now... -bB
