OJ Mayo a top 5 pick? Eric Gordon? Jerryd Bayless?
I remember the haters earlier in the year saying that Mayo was overrated, he’s not explosive enough, doesn’t jump out of the gym, etc etc. Now he’s a projected top 5 pick with most drafts having him gone at #3.
What happened to all the hype around Eric Gordon and the “other” guards which were more impressive. I’ll admit that Derrick Rose is a better pro prospect but other than that I think Mayo is (and has been) a can’t miss.
As for Gordon, I think he could be a bust. I know I shouldn’t be saying this since he’s from Chicago but his game seems a bit slow for the NBA level. I’d Jerryd Bayless over him any day of the week!

Gordon could very well be a
Gordon could very well be a bust. If he can trim down and learn how to pass, he could be a a potentially effective 2 guard.Speaking of the lost art of passing, I'm not sure if Mayo has ever heard the word. That's why the "haters" as you call them dislike Mayo. He's a selfish PG, which is as much of an oxymoron as you'll ever see. A PG sets his teammates up and even if he is a score first guy, he should always be capable of the extra pass. Mayo is not. Actually, I take that back; Mayo does tend to get the other team involved pretty well averaging nearly 4 TOs a game.
What's even more intriguing is that Gordon's season makes him statistically the poor man's OJ Mayo. Essentially a team could get Mayo but much cheaper in Gordon.
