Two big stories if you follow MLS and England so let’s get to it:
Beckham left off of England squad in Capello’s first callups
So much for bringing Beckham back into the national team fold. New coach Capello left Beckham off the roster. Given his good form and leadership (not to mention crossing and dead ball skills) you’d think Becks would get the call.

Chivas USA ‘keeper Brad Guzan denied UK work permit, will be back in MLS in 2008
As a fan of MLS, the US nat’s and Yanks Abroad, this is disappointing. He was denied apparently because he did not have enough national team appearances. I assume he will get more starts with the national team as WC qualies begin, but he’s ready to go and he would probably get a good experience with Aston Villa. I saw him as being groomed to the backup keeper in WC 2010 (sorry Marcus Hahnemann) and probably the starter in 2014. He needs to make the jump now.

another tidbit
how about the Mexico squad for next Wednesday's game? Goalkeepers: Luis Michel (Guadalajara), Moises Munoz (Morelia), Guillermo Ochoa (America) Defenders: Israel Castro (Pumas), Jonny Magallon (Guadalajara), Rafael Marquez (Barcelona, Spain), Fausto Pinto (Pachuca), Oscar Rojas (America), Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands) Midfielders: Fernando Arce (Santos Laguna), Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruna, Spain), Antonio Naelson (Toluca), Pavel Pardo (Stuttgart, Germany), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul) Forwards: Adolfo Bautista (Jaguares), Juan Carlos Cacho (Pachuca), Giovanni Dos Santos (Barcelona), Antonio de Nigris (Ankaraspor, Turkey), Carlos Vela (Osasuna, Spain) Link: http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylt=An5qZfjsqNLpqn.BlNOBU7Imw7YF?slug=ap-mexico-us&prov=ap&type=lgns They are bringing an A- squad in my view, pretty solid from front to back. If the US doesn't bring in anyone else (only MLSers mostly thus far) I think we may lose. I'm anticipating seeing their young strikers Vela and Dos Santos play.
