For San Antonio, this means, did the trade give them the final piece necessary to top the Western Conference. If it doesn’t, then it essentially is worthless. If that’s the case, then maybe sullen Seattle got the better deal as they have now compiled 13 draft picks over the next 3 years and in acquiring two expiring contracts, have gained flexibility and the opportunity to build a better team.
the Spurs don’t need their draft picks somehow this team is able to scour the world for star talent so it never really matters when/if they’re drafting. Kurt Thomas will be a solid role player for the Spurs. He’s more physical than Oberto and will take a lot of pressure away from Timmy Duncan. -bB
seattle i think the spurs improved themselves and have a great chance of taking the west, but seattle got the better deal. they might be able to combine a ton of their draft picks and move up in the draft or trade for a star player.
making moves The Sonics turned Kurt Thomas into 3 first round draft picks and a couple expiring contracts. They win, no matter what the Spurs do ( which won’t be winning the title.)
Amazing trade They will be able to put more and more talent around Kevin Durant and will have money to spend down the road.
