how can he go back into the Mavs locker room? im sure nobody likes George in the first place and now he’s going to be even a bigger outcast on the team. i smell buyout..
Maybe he’s… ...putting his own best interests ahead of the team, but it is, like he said, a business. As a mediocre player (who complained ab not getting enough playing time), its a split decision for him. While he would likely get more minutes in Jersey, he would also lose his only real leverage in free agency. Not a smart move for his career. So, while it sucks for both teams that this “small contract” player is holding up what could be a magnanimous deal, I can understand George’s reasoning.
Big Ego Devean George seems to have an inflated ego, even if he would lose his “Bird rights” via this trade.
Who’s to say Dallas will go over the salary cap to sign him to a big contract, as the rules of the “Bird rights” thing says? George is not that good of a player, and they may not sign him to the big contract he thinks he’ll get from them. Maybe that’s why the Mavs included him in this trade, because they don’t want to retain him.
Come back to reality, Devin. You are not an NBA star, and you may never be.
agree with sportsmeel sure, in the end he may not get what he really wants as Bardley1980 points out, but why do something to make sure you have not chance at getting anything, esp since any next contract would probably be the last of his career.

PS: i hope the trade goes through, since Devin’s numbers should go up if he can get 35 min/g and i have him on my team!
I like jbeyda’s “DeLoser” DeLoser has such a nice ring to it. lol -bB

savior “Savior of the Mavs”
A Kidd trade would have butchered the youth of the Mavs. I’d rather slowly get develop Harris than take Kidd for 2 years.
I think it is hilarious.
