everyone roots for the underdog, and everyone hates the lakers and the bean. nuff said!

Lakers

The city dictates this one, and Los Angeles is big business for the NBA. Couple that with Kobe’s MVP year and his first championship w/o Shaq, the Lakers and Kobe will be even a bigger cash cow for the next few years to come. Even though we know we shouldn’t make the comparison to Jordan, if the Lakers win, Jordan talks will be at an all time high.

I feel ya. I can see how the Hornets can generate bandwagon fans like the Saints did in football by pulling the Support New Orleans card. But a Lakers Celtics Finals? Two of the greatest franchises from the 80s and 90s going up against each other? Sparking debates between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson? I don’t see anything greater than that. Although I’m still rooting for the underdogs, there is just this gut feeling under my stomach that just wants to see a Goliath vs Goliath battle.

An underdog team that everyone is rooting for going up against former champs (SA) and superstar talent (Celtics/Lakers) with chemistry being the only thing that keeps them in contention would spell a massive publicity boom for the NBA. Not to mention the seats in New Orleans would actually fill up.
