Adu’s move will only make him better More exposure to the international game will only make Adu better. He had so many issues about his playing time when he was with DC United. This move will also help US Socce,r as a better groomed player will return for US team caps in the future.
Right on, Duc! I agree. He needs to play with better players, no offense to MLS, which is rapidly improving. I also think he nees a change of environment and a place where he will be pushed hard to improve. I look forward to his progress with Benfica and hopefully he can contribute to the USA’s effort in South Africa at the World Cup 2010.
Alexi Lalas wouldn’t agree but I do…contrary to Lalas’ belief, the international game is still way better than the MLS. Granted, MLS is getting better but it’s an eyesore to watch compared to Portugese futbol… Benfica saw some flashes of brilliance in Adu during the U20 cup and they seem up to task in an attempt to translate those flashes into a steady beam!
